# Inaki Williams “pleased” with Liverpool interest

Athletic Bilbao’s highly rated forward Inaki Williams has spoken about how he has been the target of top European clubs over the past few months, with the 23-year-old claiming he was “pleased” that Liverpool were showing interest, according to a report on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11046082/euro-paper-talk-edinson-cavani-reportedly-offered-to-real-madrid).

Premier League side Liverpool and German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund were both showing concrete interest in Williams, who ended up staying in Spain with Bilbao.

The Spaniard opened up about the links with the big clubs. He said:

> Dortmund, Inter, Milan, and Liverpool? When large teams are interested in you or you come close to signing for them, it can only please you and show that what you are doing is positive.

The forward reportedly has a huge €50m release clause in his contract with Bilbao and the player was quick to play down his price.

> I don’t know what I’m worth. The president put that clause and what has to come will come.

The forward, who has been compared heavily with Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele, has started the season well and has registered three assists in five league appearances.

Williams was being eyed by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who decided not to make an official approach but may be back next summer to continue his interest in the talented forward.
