# ‘Incredible’ – Virgil van Dijk makes huge claim about player Liverpool offloaded in the summer

**Virgil van Dijk remains one of Liverpool’s key players under Andoni Iraola.**

The Dutch international has shown no signs of slowing down despite being well into his 30s.

However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it remains to be seen what happens with his future.

One player who left Liverpool for free in the summer was Mohamed Salah as he reluctantly called time on his historic Anfield career.

And Van Dijk feels no one can replicate what the Egyptian did at Liverpool.

## Virgil van Dijk hails Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah

“What Mo has done for so many years as a winger, I don’t think anyone can replicate that,” said van Dijk via the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/virgil-van-dijk-outlines-new-34817407).

“What he did was incredible. The same goes with Sadio and Bobby.

“Hopefully that is going to happen again and that is what we work for, but now it is time for others, and others have to step up.”

Liverpool drafted in Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola to reinforce their attack after Salah’s departure.

Both players have done quite well since joining the club, but they will need to go up a gear or two even to get close to achieving what Salah did at Anfield.

And to be fair to them, it doesn’t make sense for anyone involved to be compared with Salah and his Liverpool career will stand the test of time.
