# Liverpool hoping to get a closer look at potential £23m Sadio Mané replacement

This summer will provide a fantastic opportunity for clubs to get a closer look at plenty of European talent.

The European Championships [kicks off this weekend](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/news/0254-0d41684d1216-06773df7faed-1000--euro-2020-all-the-fixtures/), and Liverpool will be scouting to competition.

It has already been reported that the club are [readying themselves to build profiles on a number of players](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/03/liverpool-euro-2020-scouting/).

However, one of those names that Jurgen Klopp is gunning for is Belgium youngster Jeremy Doku.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a [good debut season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/leistungsdaten/spieler/486049) in Ligue 1 for Stade Rennais, slowly easing into the league.

Klopp is reportedly hoping to get a closer look at the [£23m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/transfers/spieler/486049/transfer_id/3089478) forward as a potential replacement for Sadio Mané…

Of course, this isn’t an immediate replacement for Mané despite how it may seem.

The Senegalese winger isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but the club are starting to look to the future.

Doku is a very similar player to Mané in attack, with him playing very direct on the ball.

This tournament will give the club a great chance to get a better look at the teenager after a failed bid last year.

Doku is a player that has been of [previous interest to the club](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jun/02/jeremy-doku-the-belgium-prodigy-who-got-away-from-liverpool) but he instead opted for Stade Rennais.

It was a wise move from the youngster, with him knowing he likely wouldn’t get the valuable game time at the Reds just yet.

However, with him slowly easing into his professional career, the club are keen to get a further understanding of his qualities.
