# Joe Hardy set to make Liverpool debut against Shrewsbury

Joe Hardy is set to make his Liverpool debut against Shrewsbury Town, according to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/1576633/2020/02/03/ornstein-arteta-arsenal-dubai-winter-break-king-united-transfer/)‘s James Pearce.

The Reds host their League One opponents on Tuesday night, in the FA Cup fourth round replay at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp and his senior stars [will not be present](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/jurgen-klopp-says-he-wont-manage-liverpool-in-fa-cup-replay/), with Neil Critchley taking charge of what is effectively a Reds’ youth team.

Someone who is expected to feature is Hardy, who only joined from Brentford last month.

Ornstein claims that the 21-year-old has made a ‘big impression’ at his new club and could appear for the first time for the Reds’ senior team.

Hardy is definitely one to watch, having already scored three goals in five appearances for Liverpool’s Under-23s.

[Forty goals in 80 games for Brentford’s B team](https://theathletic.co.uk/1576633/2020/02/03/ornstein-arteta-arsenal-dubai-winter-break-king-united-transfer/) also outlines his goalscoring pedigree and he will hope to lead the line on Tuesday night.

With Rhian Brewster out on loan at Swansea City, there is every chance that that will be the case.

Luis Longstaff struggled in the 5-0 defeat at Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup in December, so I could see Hardy getting the nod instead.

He is full of confidence and will be raring to prove himself in the world’s most famous cup competition.
