# Jordan Henderson pens new long-term Liverpool deal

Liverpool have confirmed that Jordan Henderson has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract.

[The Reds took to Twitter to announce](https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1036645042813915139) that the England international will be extending his seven-year stay at the club.

Liverpool have not disclosed the length of the deal.

The club captain has endured a mixed start to the season after recovering from England’s World Cup.

He has made just one Premier League start this season, but he can expect that to increase as he continues to rebuild his fitness after a busy summer.

There had been concerns about where he fits into the midfield following the arrival of both Naby Keita and Fabinho, but the latest contract is a clear sign that he remains highly rated by Jurgen Klopp.

Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland back in 2011 and has been a regular under Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to the [club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/314962-jordan-henderson-new-liverpool-contract), the midfielder expressed his delight at signing the new deal.

> It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I signed my first one – it feels like yesterday, really – but a lot has happened since then. I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much. There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be.
