# Diogo Jota heaps praise on Jordan Henderson for warm welcome to Liverpool

[Diogo Jota](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/11/02/peter-crouch-jota-replace-firmino-liverpool/) has singled out Jordan Henderson for special praise, hailing the Liverpool skipper for making him feel welcome.

The Portuguese forward made the move from Wolves last month, in a transfer which [came out of nowhere](https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/liverpool-confirm-45m-signing-of-wolves-star-jota/1wrcssq0q816f1um8z9lmdm9cb).

He has made a superb start at Liverpool, scoring [seven goals in 10 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/leistungsdaten/spieler/340950) and bagging a hat-trick in Tuesday’s 5-0 win away to Atalanta in the Champions League.

Speaking to the Premier League’s show *[Uncut](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxOiX2K8frw)*, via *[The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jordan-hendersons-text-message-diogo-22955597?_ga=2.99490270.1536216397.1604306300-2066388652.1603745733)*, Jota lauded the influence of the Liverpool captain:

> I have to mention Jordan Henderson.

> Even before I arrived for my first training session he already texted me, saying that he will be there for me, saying welcome. It was a big thing for me and I was not expecting it and I just wanted to thank Jordan for that.

This perfectly sums up why Henderson is such an exceptional skipper – maybe even one of the best in Liverpool’s history. He might not be as good Steven Gerrard or Graeme Souness as a player, but he is [every bit their equal as a leader](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/03/liverpool-jordan-henderson-sets-up-premier-league-coronavirus-fund-for-nhs).

Henderson looks out for those around him, as Jota’s comments prove, but he is also hugely vocal on the pitch, as the behind-closed-doors game against Atalanta showed, with the 30-year-old constantly barking instructions at those around him.

There is a reason why Henderson is missed so much when he isn’t playing and a huge part of it is his stature and leadership. It is clear that his teammates treasure him hugely as a captain and he should rightly go down as a Reds legend.
