# Journalist claims Liverpool have ‘enquired’ over Denis Zakaria move

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/03/pundit-tips-brilliant-arnaut-danjuma-to-strengthen-liverpool-ranks/) have reportedly ‘enquired’ over the possibility of signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder [Denis Zakaria](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/15/virals-liverpool-target-denis-zakaria-can-leave-immediately/) this month.

The Reds have been [heavily linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal/in-contact-liverpool-target-denis-zakaria-transfer-confirmed-gladbach) with the 25-year-old previously and could land a bargain deal as the Swiss ace enters the final six months of a contract at the Bundesliga club.

Now according to journalist [Jonathan Shrager](https://twitter.com/JonathanShrager) on Twitter, the Anfield club have made their feelings known alongside Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

> I am told that Manchester United, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have all recently enquired about the possibility of signing Denis Zakaria in January

Previously a report from German outlet [SportBILD](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1471141157858168842) claimed that the [40-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/denis-zakaria/nationalmannschaft/spieler/334526/verein_id/3384) Switzerland international will be available for just £6million in the mid-season market.

So far this season Zakaria has [scored twice and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/denis-zakaria/leistungsdaten/spieler/334526) in 16 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £24.3million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/denis-zakaria/marktwertverlauf/spieler/334526)), signing the combative midfielder for free at the end of the season or indeed £6million now would be an exceptional piece of business.

Following recent issues with [injuries and illness](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpools-current-injury-list-and-suspensions) suffered within Jurgen Klopp’s squad, it’s easy to see why the Reds would be tempted to fast forward their move for the dependable Monchengladbach man.

Boasting [strong attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/252419/Show/Denis-Zakaria) in both the attacking and defensive department, Zakaria would offer much-needed strength to the Anfield ranks and could provide the answer as to who will replace Gini Wijnaldum.
