# Julien Laurens claims Kylian Mbappe would ‘fancy’ Liverpool move

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/25/virals-liverpool-seeking-a-transfer-for-goalkeeper-loris-karius/) have often been linked with a sensational move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar [Kylian Mbappe](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/25/real-madrid-liverpool-mbappe-offer/).

Albeit perhaps a fanciful idea given the finances involved, the Reds are perennially [touted](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/kylian-mbappe-psg-liverpool-transfers-21315189) with an attempt at landing the 22-year-old forward.

As Mbappe seems to hold Real Madrid as the next destination in a fledgeling career, PSG director Leonardo has [admitted](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1430516940120887301) the World Cup-winner ‘wants to join’ Los Blancos amidst a [£137million offer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58326817).

Speaking to talkSPORT [(Wednesday, August 25, 10:20am)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1629882000/), French football expert Julien Laurens claimed that the ace does indeed harbour ambitions of becoming a Red one day.

> He’s done it all in France, apart from winning the Champions League. He’s scored 133 goals in 170 appearances. He wants to go to bigger things, Real Madrid are a bigger club than PSG. La Liga is a bigger league than Ligue 1. We could say the same about Liverpool, he will fancy one day playing for a club like Liverpool, to play in the Premier League one day. But right now his focus is on Real Madrid.

Having entered the [final 12 months of a contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/profil/spieler/342229) in Paris, it would seem the final days of the transfer window could focus solely on the future of the [48-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/nationalmannschaft/spieler/342229/verein_id/3377) star.

Last season, the man who once [described](https://talksport.com/football/710199/kylian-mbappe-heaps-huge-praise-on-liverpool-machine-again-and-very-good-manager-jurgen-klopp/) Jurgen Klopp’s side as a ‘machine’, scored [42 goals and registered 11 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/342229) across 47 appearances in all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Unfortunately, it would seem the [Mbappe dream](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/kylian-mbappe-liverpool-real-madrid-24641040) may finally be over for the foreseeable future.

Unless the Frenchman has a change of heart or can be convinced Anfield is the ideal destination in the summer of 2022, the cost implications involved in buying the [£144million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/marktwertverlauf/spieler/342229) star are simply out of the club’s ballpark currently.

Available for nothing next summer, Liverpool would likely fancy their chances given the [apparent connection](https://talksport.com/football/903175/liverpool-transfer-jurgen-klopp-kylian-mbappe-paris-saint-germain-kingsley-coman/) between club and player, something that won’t hold much weight when it comes to prizing the ace away from PSG or Real Madrid.
