# Jurgen Klopp confirms Diogo Jota is still several weeks away from returning

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/12/fabinho-ruled-out-of-leicester-game-with-muscle-injury/) manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that [Diogo Jota](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/08/keita-and-jota-close-to-returning-to-full-liverpool-training-claims-journalist/) is still a few weeks away from returning to the fold as he continues his comeback from a [Diogo Jota](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/08/keita-and-jota-close-to-returning-to-full-liverpool-training-claims-journalist/).

The Portuguese ace had been [pictured back in training](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/08/keita-and-jota-close-to-returning-to-full-liverpool-training-claims-journalist/) recently and there was cautious optimism that he could be back playing sooner rather than later.

However, speaking in his [pre-match press conference](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/425477-watch-jurgen-klopp-leicester-press-conference) ahead of what is set to be a tough trip to Leicester tomorrow, Klopp confirmed that the 24-year-old, who made [nine Premier League appearances](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/08/keita-and-jota-close-to-returning-to-full-liverpool-training-claims-journalist/) this season prior to his injury, is still some weeks away from being part of his plans (via [James Pearce](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/08/keita-and-jota-close-to-returning-to-full-liverpool-training-claims-journalist/)).

Naby Keita is another Red who has been [sidelined since before Christmas](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-naby-keita-injury-breaking-19632750) and, like Jota, Klopp doesn’t expect to have the Guinean midfielder ready for another while yet.

The Reds could really use their squad resembling full strength as soon as possible, with a battle to stay in the top four seemingly [now on the cards](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) as well as a return to Champions League action next week.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Liverpool can’t [catch a break this season](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/08/liverpool-injuries-premier-league-schedule-jurgen-klopp-peaked) in terms of injuries. Just as it seems the squad is beginning to potentially have [some strength in depth](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team), another one or two key players go down.

Jota’s absence, in particular, has been felt hard by the Reds, with his [goals in the early weeks of the season](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/jota-impact-liverpool-similar-salah-klopp-headache-aldridge/1ixdq112s4wu9z9kenig0uy58) a huge boost alongside the output of the [usually formidable front three](https://www.coachesvoice.com/premier-league-liverpool-roberto-firmino-mo-salah-sadio-mane/).

Since his layoff, that trio have been [playing almost relentlessly](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/ausfallzeiten/verein/31) when fit and that must have been a contributing factor towards [their occasional dips](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/salah-mane-firmino-paid-to-score-deserve-criticism-liverpool/msid0ulwwmy11csqcohmce044) in performance.
