# Jurgen Klopp explains conversation with Xherdan Shaqiri at full-time

After Liverpool’s 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea, TV cameras picked up what looked like a rather annoyed Jurgen Klopp having an animated conversation with Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Reds’ boss was clearly annoyed at something as he spoke to his new summer signing and when asked about what was said, Klopp said he was annoyed that Shaqiri didn’t take a quick free-kick to play in Mohamed Salah in injury time.

He said:

> I spoke about a free-kick, the last one. We wanted to have Mo a bit wider, so we had passed the ball to Mo, the whole bunch of players was in one direction – where we shot the ball, actually. But if we can send Mo into a one-on-one situation in the last situation of the game, it would have been not too bad. What I said was about the free-kick, nothing else.

Liverpool went ahead in the tie thanks to an acrobatic strike from Daniel Sturridge but a tap-in from Emerson Palmieri and a wonderful solo effort from Eden Hazard gave the visitors a win, thus knocking Klopp’s side out of the League Cup.
