# Jurgen Klopp explains Rhian Brewster Champions League inclusion

Jurgen Klopp has revealed he included Rhian Brewster in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final first leg squad with Barcelona to give the youngster a ‘first sniff’ of the competition, the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-explains-liverpool-included-14977211) report.

The 19-year-old, who has yet to make his Reds first-team debut, was the surprise inclusion in Klopp’s squad for the first leg at the Nou Camp.

The England Under-17 World Cup winner is no stranger to training with the squad, with the striker regularly around the first-team group this season after his return from a serious knee injury.

The injury kept the teenager out for the majority of the previous campaign, with Brewster making an impressive return for Liverpool’s Under-23 side.

And talking to the media in Barcelona, Klopp revealed why he included the youngster in his 23-man squad and claimed that next season will be the forward’s ‘first real season’.

> He is the next really exciting prospect. If you see him training… next season will be his season, his first real season.

> He is now physically an adult, he grew a lot, he worked a lot and the training session today was, to be honest, pretty impressive.

> He is with us, he is our player and we want to have him around.

> In this case I thought, ‘Come on, it’s Barcelona, let’s give him a first sniff.

Brewster will more than likely be left out of the matchday squad on Wednesday evening, however, it appears as if Reds fans will be seeing more of the highly rated youngster next season.
