# Keita statistic suggests more is required at Liverpool

Naby Keita hasn’t managed one successful tackle in the Premier League this season, according to the *[Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8808079/The-high-line-exposed-Naby-Keita-tackle-went-wrong-Liverpool-against-Villa.html)*‘s Dominic King.

The Guinean has started every league game for the Reds in 2020/21, due in part to the absence of Jordan Henderson and Thiago.

While Keita has performed well on the whole, King points out that he hasn’t made a single tackle in four matches, as well as failing to make an interception since the 4-3 win over Leeds on the opening weekend.

This is an eye-watering statistic that doesn’t reflect well on Keita, who was part of a hapless midfield in Sunday’s 7-2 humiliation at the hands of Aston Villa.

While the 25-year-old has been good on the ball this season, averaging a [92.6 percent pass completion rate](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/243510/Show/Naby-Keita), he has been too passive off it. Keita’s average of just [0.5 attempted tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) is also well short of the likes of Fabinho (2.5), Henderson (2.0) and Gini Wijnaldum (1.5).

That being said, Keita is second in interceptions and blocks for Liverpool in 2020/21 to date, as per [*FBref*](https://fbref.com/en/squads/822bd0ba/Liverpool-Stats#all_stats_defense_10728), so I think it would be unfair to say that he has offered nothing.

It is easy to forget how great his reputation was when he arrived from RB Leipzig, though, and he is yet to meet those expectations, leaving supporters generally wanting more.
