# Kevin Campbell tips Naby Keita to get the nod against Manchester City

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell has tipped Naby Keita to get the nod ahead of [Curtis Jones](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/29/pundits-laud-performance-of-liverpool-youngster-curtis-jones/) against Manchester City.

That’s despite the 20-year-old [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/01/jamie-redknapp-puts-form-of-phenomenal-ace-down-to-virgil-van-dijk/)attacking midfielder being in scintillating form recently, culminating in a [standout display](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/sep/29/curtis-jones-proved-in-porto-he-can-be-the-real-deal-for-liverpool) in the 5-1 victory over FC Porto this week.

Jones was also the [most impressive](https://www.sofascore.com/player/curtis-jones/927353) Red on show during the pulsating 3-3 draw at Brentford in the Premier League.

However, speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool-tipped-to-withdraw-jones-from-xi-for-city-clash-after-injury-update-pundit/), former Everton ace Campbell believes a back to full fitness Keita could be preferred.

> Jones has been amazing in the past two games and got his goal at the weekend but I think Klopp will go for Keita. Keita is back training and has more experience and in a game like this experience counts for a lot. That’s why I think he’ll just edge it. Jones is seriously knocking on the door though because he is a very good player and has shown it this week. He is definitely pushing for a starting berth.

Capped on [six occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/curtis-jones/nationalmannschaft/spieler/433188/verein_id/9565) by England at Under 21 level, Jones’ recent upturn in form might’ve earned senior recognition as well as a leading role in Klopp’s plans.

Meanwhile, Keita had been in goalscoring touch last time out in the Premier League, firing home a [long-range volley](https://www.givemesport.com/1755205-liverpools-naby-keita-scores-outrageous-volley-in-premier-league-win-vs-crystal-palace) past Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

This and the decision over whether to play [Roberto Firmino or Diogo Jota](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roberto-firmino-diogo-jota-liverpool-21715374) are the biggest headaches facing Klopp this weekend.

Two weeks ago Keita would’ve been a [shoo-in](https://www.sofascore.com/player/naby-keita/365772) for this crunch clash, but Jones’ form might’ve earned some loyalty.

Holding a market value of £27million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/curtis-jones/marktwertverlauf/spieler/433188)), the Scouse midfielder’s stock is certainly on the rise and a strong performance against the reigning champions could wake up the world to the starlet’s abilities.
