# Klopp insists Firmino will come good

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has jumped to the defence of Roberto Firmino, with the forward receiving criticism for his lack of goals in recent times.

The Brazilian international has not hit the heights that he did throughout the course of last season, prompting concerns over his apparent lack of productivity at the moment.

Firmino has found the net only twice in his last 14 outings and has scored just six goals in all competitions at this stage of the campaign.

Klopp spoke to the media ahead of his side’s testing trip to Turf Moor on Wednesday evening, with Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture coming against Burnley.

The German tactician was quizzed about whether or not he was worried by Firmino’s recent shortcomings in the final third. As quoted by the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool/liverpool-boss-jurgen-klopp-plays-down-concerns-over-roberto-firmino-goal-drought-a4008331.html), he said:

> It’s absolutely okay. It’s not that he plays his best football in each second of the game, but he’s just an important player. That’s how it is with a player’s career, you have these moments where you fly and you cannot explain it, and moments where you don’t and you have to come again.

> That’s the case, nothing to worry about, just a normal football season. We all have to go through these little holes and everything will be fine again, especially for him because his attitude is absolutely phenomenal. He will never stop, and that’s good. Everything will be fine.

It is clear that Klopp has full faith in his versatile forward to find his shooting boots in the not so distant future.
