# Klopp: Liverpool are not playing like they miss Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho sealed his eagerly anticipated move from Liverpool to Barcelona in January, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp feels his side are not visibly missing him on the pitch.

Liverpool have been in a superb run of form in recent times and currently sit in 2nd place on the Premier League table. They have gone from strength to strength since Coutinho’s departure, allaying earlier fears that they would struggle without him.

Klopp, as quoted by the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/jurgen-klopp-miss-philippe-coutinho-14366305), discussed the Barcelona star’s capabilities but insisted that his side are not missing the quality that he brought to the table.

> It’s actually the response we hoped for. You can never be sure in this business, we all know. I don’t even know anymore what was the first game without Phil. It helped he was a little bit injured before he left, before the final decision was made. I think we won! I’m not sure.

> But the performance was okay (against Burnley on New Year’s Day) so it didn’t start immediately pointing on this thing and saying ‘without Coutinho they are not creative, they cannot do this, they cannot do that’.

Coutinho has enjoyed a good start to life in Spain, establishing himself as a key player for Ernesto Valverde’s side already. He played a part in Barca’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid today in La Liga.

> Phil is a world-class player and we miss him, but thank God we do not see it on the pitch. My English is probably not good enough, it’s a job for the boys that we don’t miss him. It looks like we don’t miss him but we miss him. He’s highest quality.

Klopp will hope that his men can continue to flourish despite Coutinho’s mid-season departure, as the Reds look to secured 2nd place in the league and progress in the Champions League.
