# Klopp plays down fears over Oxlade-Chamberlain injury

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the injury Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered during his return to action was nothing serious, despite some initial fears about the midfielder.

[As reported by the club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/341297-jurgen-klopp-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-liverpool), Klopp explained that Liverpool are not so worried about the midfielder.

> It’s not really surprising, it’s normal. The good news is the knee is perfect – nothing happened, that was our only concern.
>
> Football games are different to football training, that’s why he felt the muscle a little bit, and thank God we were smart enough to take him off, even if it was only five minutes earlier than we thought \[before the game\]. That made absolute sense. Nothing else happened.

The England international was set to feature for the first 45 minutes against Derby County’s U23s last Friday.

He started the game but was brought off earlier than expected in the latter stages of the first half and appeared to be holding his hamstring.

There were concerns that perhaps the midfielder had overdone it on his return to action, but that does not seem to be the case.

It is now a case of the midfielder building up his match sharpness before making his long-awaited first-team return.

At this stage, it is still unclear about when that could happen, with no return believed to be imminent for the player.
