# Klopp praises new throw-in coach after instant results

Jürgen Klopp has given glowing words to Liverpool’s new throw-ins coach, Thomas Gronnemark.

Making the curious decision to appoint the specialist, the Dane was tasked with improving Liverpool’s performances at the restarts with both the senior team and the academy.

Gronnemark is the world record holder for the longest throw-in ever made, and held a similar position at FC Midtylland in his home country.

> I think it’s not only important to me, it’s important to everybody but, to be honest, I never heard about a throw-in coach \[before\],” he said.

> How it is, as a football manager, you know a lot about different things. I played the game, I’ve been managing since around about 18 years or so, but that doesn’t mean I’m a goalkeeper specialist and I’m obviously not a throw-in specialist.

> I know about different movements, that’s what we always did, but it was not 100% clear – maybe it’s only my fault – how can I improve the guy with the ball, not the movements of the other guys.

The enigmatic German revealed how a meeting convinced him to bring the guru aboard:

> When I heard about Thomas, it was clear to me I wanted to meet him, when I met him it was 100% clear I wanted to employ him. Now he’s here, now we work on that from time to time, and we use his information as well during the week when he is not here.

> We used it for the academy as well, it’s good. You cannot have enough specialists around, I must always be the guy who makes the decision when do we use all these specialists, but we cannot have enough.

> We have the fitness, medical department, nutrition, and now we have somebody for throw-ins. And he’s a good guy, to be honest.

It seems his players are enjoying the input, too:

> Already \[he has made a difference\], it’s good, the boys like it. Somebody who knows what he is talking about, it always helps when you want to improve something.

Liverpool are enjoying a superb start to the Premier League season, taking nine points from nine without conceding a goal.
