# Klopp provides Liverpool supporters with update on Van Dijk’s injury

Virgil van Dijk is “as good as possible” after his cruciate ligament injury, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The 29-year-old’s season has [likely been ended](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/18/van-dijk-ruled-out-for-months-with-cruciate-ligament-injury/) following the injury against Everton last weekend, acting as a major blow for Liverpool.

There has been understandable [concern](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/10/totally-gutted-but-the-show-must-go-on-fans-react-as-lfc-confirm-virgil-van-dijk-acl-injury/) from some Reds supporters this week, not only because of the length of time their star man could be out for, but also because they feel so sorry for him.

Fans have been desperate for an update on Van Dijk and Klopp duly provided it on Friday afternoon.[https://twitter.com/carlmarkham/status/1319606475317252098?s=20](https://twitter.com/carlmarkham/status/1319606475317252098?s=20)

[Speaking](https://twitter.com/carlmarkham/status/1319606475317252098?s=20) in his pre-Sheffield United press conference, the Liverpool boss said the Dutchman is fine, with no timescale on his surgery or length of absence yet:

> He is OK. When the surgery happens I don’t think it makes sense we give a time schedule.

> He is as good as possible. We don’t want to know (how long he will be out), all people are different.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

It is good to hear that Van Dijk seems in relatively good spirits – as good as can be, having suffered such a bad injury.

The team spirit that exists at Liverpool means the centre-back is in the best possible place to undergo his recovery, and his teammates will do their very best to thrive in his absence.

Van Dijk is going to be an enormous loss for the Reds, but it is now up to others to prove that they can still enjoy success without him.
