# Klopp remains unlikely to make January signings

Liverpool are still unlikely to sign a new defender during the January transfer window, despite the recent injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

[As reported by the London Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool/liverpool-transfers-unlikely-injury-setback-jurgen-klopp-fresh-title-test-a4039581.html), Klopp remains unlikely to address the emerging injury crisis developing at the back for Liverpool.

It was [confirmed earlier this week](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/01/15/trent-alexander-arnold-to-miss-four-weeks-with-a-knee-injury/) that Alexander-Arnold will miss four weeks with a knee injury after suffering a knock during the warm-up against Brighton.

The Reds also loaned out Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth earlier in the January transfer window, and the player will [not be recalled](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/01/15/clyne-will-not-be-recalled-by-liverpool/).

Minor injuries to both Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk have seen the Reds use a makeshift back four in recent weeks, raising more concern about the squad depth available to the Liverpool boss.

While many have urged Klopp to address the situation, he played down the need for any new arrivals.

> We had problems in the past, we dealt very well with it, and now we have a few more different problems and we will deal well with that as well. Then, let’s play football, nothing else.
