# Klopp rues “average” end product in Bayern Munich stalemate

Jurgen Klopp was left frustrated by Liverpool’s final ball, following their 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The two sides played out a tight contest, with strong defending standing out over dazzling attacking play.

It was a scoreline that very few predicted before the game and it leaves the last-16 tie finely poised ahead of next month’s second leg in Munich.

One of the key reasons for the stalemate was Liverpool’s inability to play the right final ball.

Numerous culpable individuals had the chance to play a killer pass, only for it to either be cut out or played off target.

Klopp rued his side’s wasteful nature after the match, [telling](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2019/02/jurgen-klopp-identifies-10-or-12-problems-but-stays-optimistic-after-bayern-draw/) reporters that it was a key reason behind the final result:

> It is not the result or the game we dreamed of.

> \[There was\] a big ballyhoo before the game and then not really a lot of things happen in the game. But it was an intense one. You saw the respect both teams had for each other.

> \[Bayern\] made life a bit uncomfortable, obviously. But in the first half we still had the chances and, as it always is, a goal would have changed the game a bit.

> Our problem tonight was, on one hand, the quality of the opponent and on the other hand our last pass was not our friend.

> We had 10 or 12 situations where everything was prepared, everything was on a plate and then we played a very average last pass or gave it away.

Despite drawing at home, Liverpool are still right in the contest and keeping a clean-sheet without the influential Virgil van Dijk was a huge bonus.

An away goal in Munich would suddenly make life extremely awkward for Bayern and the Reds’ attacking threat makes that a distinct possibility.
