# Lallana set to leave Liverpool this summer, confirms reliable journalist

Adam Lallana is set to leave Liverpool this summer, with no talks taking place over a new contract.

That’s according to the *[Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfer-news-adam-lallana-contract-premier-league-rivals-a4356391.html)*‘s David Lynch, who says he expects the 31-year-old to move on at the end of the season.

Lallana was linked with a summer move to Leicester City on Thursday, with the *[Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/02/06/adam-lallana-line-forbrendan-rodgers-reunion-afterleicester/)* claiming there is also interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham.

A move away now looks highly likely for Lallana, following six seasons at Anfield after [arriving](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27647888) for £25 million from Southampton in 2014.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think a summer exit makes complete sense for Lallana, both for him and for Liverpool.

The midfielder is no longer a key player, making only [three Premier League starts](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/21683/Show/Adam-Lallana) all season, and his [£110,000 a week wages](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/liverpool-f.c/payroll/) make him one of the club’s highest paid players.

He could earn more regular playing time elsewhere, while him leaving will free up funds for Liverpool.

As he approaches 32, with a [history of injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-lallana/verletzungen/spieler/43530), I don’t think it would make much sense for Liverpool to retain Lallana’s services.

In Curtis Jones, Liverpool have a tailor-made replacement, in my opinion – someone capable of becoming a reliable squad member.

He is maturing all the time as a player, growing physically and contributing [two goals](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/1322) for the first-team in 2019/20 – one more than Lallana has managed, in 12 fewer appearances.

The 19-year-old became the Reds’ youngest-ever captain in midweek in Liverpool’s [win over Shrewsbury](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51380211), earning a nine-out-of-10 rating from [This Is Anfield](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/02/liverpool-1-0-shrewsbury-town-player-ratings/).
