# Lambert wanted by Leicester City

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert is attracting interest from Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City, according to Steve Stammer of the *Mirror*.

With the recent arrival of Christian Benteke, Liverpool now have a total of nine strikers in the squad meaning that some of the strikers will be surplus to requirements at Anfield.

One of them might be 33-year-old Lambert who was initially targeted by West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies were considered the favourites to sign the Scouse striker for a fee of circa £3.5 million; however under new boss Ranieri, the Foxes are looking to bolster their attacking options after fighting off relegation at the end of the season.

Ranieri is looking to bring add an experienced striker to his Leicester side and while Lambert’s return of two goals in 25 league appearances for the Reds leaves a lot to be desired, his record with Southampton in the 2013/14 season, 13 goals in 37 league appearances, is much more impressive and the Italian manager will hope to get that form out of the former Bournemouth player.
