# Lemar wants Spain switch over Liverpool

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, with reports suggesting the player wants to move to Spain.

The [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/675735/Liverpool-dealt-another-blow-Monaco-star-Thomas-Lemar-transfer-news-EXCLUSIVE) reports that the winger has made Monaco aware of his desire to join Barcelona, who recently paid Liverpool £142 million to sign Philippe Coutinho.

Lemar, who has been valued at £92 million, had been lined up as a direct replacement for the Brazilian following his January move to the Catalan side.

Arsenal have also expressed an interest in the French attacker after having several bids turned down in the summer.

The Reds have money to spend off the back of Coutinho’s departure and have been linked with both Lemar and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez.

In 22 appearances for Monaco this season, Lemar has netted just three times in all competitions.

After Barcelona decided to splash the cash on Coutinho it would appear unlikely that another big-money move is imminent for Lemar.
