# Lewandowski reacts angrily to criticism from Hamann

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has hit out at Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann, as reported on the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bayern-munich-star-brands-liverpool-15798864).

The Polish international received heavy criticism from Hamann after Bayern fell to a 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.

The result meant that Bayern fell seven points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Hamann was not impressed with Lewandowski and claimed that the forward was an “individualist” that could be becoming a “problem” for the club.

Lewandowski was far from impressed with the comments and after Bayern’s German Cup victory in midweek, he said:

> I am always focused on my job, and cup games are always difficult to play. We won that match, and I am not interested in what someone says about me

> Even more so if that’s just flat-out stupid. I don’t think \[Hamann\] knows much about tactics.

The striker has netted 24 times in 28 matches this season and is expected to start against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League last 16 first leg on February 19th.
