# Liverpool Player Ratings: Burnley (H)

One of the few teams to take points off [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/21/liverpool-fans-react-to-starting-lineup-against-burnley-henderson-injured/) during their long unbeaten Anfield run, Burnley, became the first team to get the better of the Reds on home soil in the Premier League at the [69th time of asking](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpools-68-game-unbeaten-run-anfield-burnley-premier/wir8bqck3of217q4e6wl3j3kw).

What has quickly become a dreadful turn of the year for [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/21/liverpool-fans-rejoice-klopp-van-dijk-injury-update/)‘s side had the icing put on a particularly unappetising cake on Thursday when [Ashley Barnes’ 83rd-minute penalty](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2021/jan/21/liverpool-v-burnley-premier-league-live) handed the visitors a 1-0 victory on Merseyside.

Having enjoyed the[vast majority of possession](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-burnley/stats/429015) throughout the evening, the lacklustre hosts were unable to make anything count as countless crosses were hoisted into the Burnley box, all to no avail.

Divock Origi was afforded a rare start and was gifted the best chance of the match for Liverpool, only to [hit the crossbar](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-burnley/video/429015) when one-on-one with Nick Pope.

Despite a second half improvement in tempo, Klopp’s side [lacked any cutting edge](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-burnley/report/429015) and were ultimately way off the boil in the final third.

Here’s how we rated the Reds on a landmark night for all the wrong reasons…
