# Liverpool Player Ratings: Manchester City (H)

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/06/true-or-false-quiz-liverpool-new-signing-ben-davies/)‘s Premier League title defence was dealt another, this time potentially fatal, blow as league leaders and rivals Manchester City came away from Anfield [victorious](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12211470/liverpool-1-4-man-city-alisson-blunders-phil-foden-stars-as-visitors-tighten-title-grip) for the first time at since 2003.

Jurgen Klopp’s side welcomed back [Sadio Mane](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/05/liverpool-fans-rejoice-jurgen-klopp-confirms-mane-alisson-fabinho-training/), Fabinho and Alisson Becker to their ranks but they were unable to spark the Reds to their previous formidable selves on home turf.

A [brace from Ilkay Gundogan](https://www.mancity.com/citytv/mens/liverpool-1-4-manchester-city-short-highlights-63748324) after the German missed a first half penalty was separated by a Mohamed Salah penalty before a Raheem Sterling strike and a superb Phil Foden goal rounded off City’s resounding 4-1 victory.

Liverpool were masters of their own downfall with the usually reliable Alisson [making two errors](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55875683) playing out from the back, leading to gilt-edged chances which the visitors did not pass up.

Having [swept aside all before them last season](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=274&ha=-1), another lacklustre performance from the champions sees them [sit fourth](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=363&ha=-1), 10 points behind City, who also have a game in hand.

Here’s how we rated the Reds on show on another dismal Anfield outing…
