# Liverpool battle with Fenerbahce for Brazilian star Luan

Premier League side Liverpool are facing stiff competition from Turkish giants Fenerbahce for highly-rated Brazilian forward Luan as the Reds look to bolster their attack before the start of the season, according to Foot Mercato, as cited by [Talksport](https://talksport.com/football/transfer-news-liverpool-joined-fenerbahce-chase-brazilian-star-luan-170803248973).

Liverpool were in pole position to land the Gremio striker but news outlet FootMercato now claim that they have been joined by Fenerbahce, who are also keen to land the forward this summer.

The 24-year-old made his senior debut for Brazil earlier in the year and his current club Gremio are ready to cash in on him in this transfer window.

Should the club receive a good enough offer, then they will not stand in the way of Luan moving.

Italian Serie A club Sampdoria have also been heavily interested in Luan and have been working to convince the goal-scorer to move to Italy, but a move to the Premier League is far more appealing.

Liverpool already have plenty of options in attack but are maybe pursuing Luan due to the fact that Barcelona may come calling for midfielder Philippe Coutinho as a replacement for the departing Neymar.

Should the Reds miss out on Luan, manager Jurgen Klopp won’t be devastated as he seems happy with the players he has up front and is most likely to focus on strengthening at the back.
