# Boost for Liverpool as Bayern Munich withdraw David Alaba contract offer

Bayern Munich have withdrawn their latest contract offer for [David Alaba](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/29/liverpool-fans-love-the-idea-of-alaba-joining-the-reds-in-january/), acting as a possible boost to Liverpool.

*[The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bayern-munich-david-alaba-transfer-22941990)* report that the 28-year-old’s future is now even more up in the air, with Bayern president Herbert Hainer confirming that the offer is no longer on the table.

Alaba has been [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/28/liverpool-boosted-as-alaba-rejects-new-contract-at-bayern-munich/) with a move to Liverpool in January, helping ease the defensive crisis at Anfield.

The Austrian is [out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/profil/spieler/59016) at the end of the season, so Bayern could look to earn a fee for him before then.

Much like Thiago, I think Alaba could be an outstanding addition for Liverpool, even if time isn’t necessarily on his side.

The Austria legend showed what a world-class player he is last season, when he excelled at centre-back in Bayern’s Champions League-winning campaign.

He is capable of shining both in the centre of defence and at left-back, not to mention central midfield, too. ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/59016))

This versatility could appeal to Klopp, but most importantly, his vast experience as a defender could help fill the void left by Virgil van Dijk.

Alaba has won Austria’s Player of the Year award an incredible [six times](https://www.worldfootball.net/footballer_of_the_year/oesterreich/), which speaks volumes, and [nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/erfolge/spieler/59016) outlines his winning mentality.
