# Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola shows his class with his comments on Arne Slot

**Earlier this week, Alexis Mac Allister claimed Liverpool feel a lot better this season under Andoni Iraola as opposed to what was the case under Arne Slot.**

And to be fair to him, he probably didn’t mean any malice, but his comments have generated a lot of chatter on social media.

The Reds looked devoid of energy and confidence last season, but Iraola has certainly addressed those issues, as it shows on the pitch.

And now, ahead of the clash vs Brighton, the Spaniard has defended Slot, adding that the tragedy involving Diogo Jota proved to be a dark cloud over Anfield last season.

## Andoni Iraola defends Arne Slot’s Liverpool tenure

“Last season must have been very difficult for the club as a whole because of the tragedy involving Diogo,” said Iraola via SomosElBoro on YouTube.

“It must have been a difficult time for the squad and everyone at the club. I think Arne Slot did a very, very good job. He played a different style from the one we use, but he did very well.

“The team probably needed a change. Not specifically a change to me, but a change in general.

“I’m happy because I’ve found a squad with a real willingness, and for me that foundation is almost the most important thing.”

Iraola isn’t a native English speaker, but he certainly has his way with words and seems to treat everyone with utmost dignity and class.
