# Liverpool confirm Anfield Road extension set to be complete by 2023/24

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/22/virals-tweet-highlights-exciting-list-of-soon-to-be-out-of-contract-stars/) have confirmed plans to extend the Anfield Road stand by 7,000 before the 2023/24 season.

The expansion will take the [overall capacity of Anfield to 61,000](https://www.statista.com/statistics/384458/premier-league-stadium-capacity/) after receiving the go-ahead from the City Council to begin work.

Included in the extension will be an entry large enough to set up for [concerts and other performances](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/fans/local-residents/concerts-events) in the L4 stadium.

The welcome news appeared on the [club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/announcements/444151-anfield-road-stand-expansion-confirmed) and [Twitter](https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1440586509246099457) as Kopites revelled in the ever-expanding spiritual home.

This latest development comes following a new [purpose-built state of the art training centre](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/training-ground) as well as the new Main Stand.

Work will begin [before the end of the month](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12414146/liverpool-move-forward-with-anfield-road-stand-expansion-to-take-stadiums-capacity-to-over-61-000) and when complete will boast ‘improved concourses and sports bar lounge hospitality facilities’ for supporters.

In a similar vein to the new Main Stand, work will commence alongside the current Reds’ [home fixture list](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results).

This can only be positive news for the club and supporters alike.

Bringing in new revenue streams puts Liverpool on a stronger footing, whilst the [additional capacity](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/announcements/394143-lfc-update-on-proposed-expansion-of-anfield-road-stand) allows more Kopites to attend games and generate unrivalled atmospheres.

Albeit not the big-name summer signing many might’ve hoped for, even the most [ardent owner defector](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesnalton/2021/04/28/can-liverpool-owners-fsg-rebuild-relationship-with-fans/) would admit the work done on the infrastructure in recent years has been healthy.
