# Liverpool contact Skrtel to get the lowdown on Cakir

Liverpool have contacted Martin Skrtel to get the lowdown on Trabzonspor teammate Ugurcan Cakir, according to [Takvim](https://www.sporx.com/ingiliz-devleri-ugurcan-cakiri-sordular-SXHBQ837901SXQ), via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/martin-skrtel-advises-liverpool-klopp-target-positive-feedback/).

The Reds have been [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/01/31/trabzonspor-reject-e24m-bid-from-liverpool-for-cakir/) with the 23-year-old goalkeeper a number of times, but no move has come to fruition as of yet.

Cakir has impressed for Trabzonspor alongside Skrtel this season, making [25 appearances](https://1xbet.whoscored.com/Players/258840/Show/Ugurcan-%C3%87akir) in the Turkish Super Lig.

Skrtel is believed to have sent back a positive report on his colleague, who could cost more than €17 million this summer – the amount that they earned when they sold Yusuf Yazici to Lille.

I think Cakir could be an ideal replacement for Adrian, should the Spaniard leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Adrian started life at Anfield promisingly, but back-to-back costly errors against Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have highlighted his limitations.

Cakir could prove to be a younger, long-term option, learning from Alisson but also potentially being an upgrade on youngsters Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara.

Should Adrian remain at the club, however, I don’t see any need for Liverpool to be looking at other goalkeeping options.
