# Liverpool could seal £18.07m Ozan Kabak move in January

Liverpool transfer target [Ozan Kabak](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/09/19/liverpool-make-approach-for-ozan-kabak/) could be available for €20m (£18.07m) in January, according to a report from *[Bild](https://sportbild.bild.de/bundesliga/vereine/schalke/schalke-04-ozan-kabak-winter-transfer-ausstiegsklausel-73737172.sport.html)*.

The 20-year-old is among a number of centre-backs [linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-defender-january-transfer-news-19162850?_ga=2.4097911.650003780.1604591339-1194075882.1560761803) with a move to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp eyes up defensive reinforcements.

Virgil van Dijk’s injury has left Liverpool with just Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as [established options in that area of the pitch](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/kadernachposition/verein/31), although Fabinho has shone there, as have Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams.

Schalke are not ruling out the idea of selling Kabak in the January transfer window, acting as a potential boost to Liverpool.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Kabak would be an ideal option in many ways, with his style suiting the Reds down to the ground.

He has enjoyed a [91.1%](https://1xbet.whoscored.com/Players/356743/Show/Ozan-Kabak) passing accuracy rate in the Bundesliga this season, which is [superior](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) to any of Liverpool’s centre-backs in the Premier League to date.

Kabak has also averaged [1.5 tackles and five clearances](https://1xbet.whoscored.com/Players/356743/Show/Ozan-Kabak) per match, suggesting he knows how to excel in the more gritty aspects of his game.

At 20, the Turkey international may accept not playing every week, too, which could be different with someone like Dayot Upamecano, who has also been [linked with Liverpool](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-news-upamecano-gomez-19068457) and would [surely cost a lot more than £18.07m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dayot-upamecano/profil/spieler/344695).
