Liverpool are set to battle it out against Merseyside rivals Everton in the race to sign Ajax star David Neres this summer.

Neres starred for Ajax during their incredible Champions League victory over defending champions Real Madrid in the last 16 last month, scoring the second goal during a stunning 4-1 second leg victory at the Bernabeu.

The Brazilian has scored 11 goals for the Dutch side in all competitions this season, and also has 15 assists to his name.

The winger has recently been linked with a £40million move to Everton, and Liverpool have now entered the race for the 22-year-old, according to the report.

Neres will have another chance to impress when Ajax take on Juventus in the quarter final of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
