# Liverpool eye summer move for Torino defender Gleison Bremer

Liverpool have identified Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer as their ‘top summer transfer target’, according to the [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-identify-torino-centre-back-23496092](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-identify-torino-centre-back-23496092)*[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-identify-torino-centre-back-23496092)*.

The 23-year-old has impressed for the Serie A side this season, [starting 18](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/339875/Show/Bremer) of his team’s 22 league games.

Despite Liverpool bringing in [Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55897340) last week, it is claimed that neither are ‘ready-made’ solutions for Liverpool.

Instead, it is Bremer who the Reds are lining up this summer, with the report stating that he could complement Virgil van Dijk well.

Bremer certainly ticks a lot of the boxes when you look at his statistics this season, with [2.6 aerial duels](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/339875/Show/Bremer) won per game in Serie A superior to Van Dijk’s tally ([2.4](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/95408/Show/Virgil-van-Dijk)) in the Premier League in 2020/21, prior to his injury.

That being said, the Brazilian is a left-sided centre-back, like Van Dijk, which could mean the Dutchman having to shift across to the right.

That might not be an issue, but considering how [unrivalled](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/van-dijk-best-defender-world-ac-milan-baresi-liverpool/mxzsg1awpgbn1nsfsjxvxc8mb) Van Dijk has been in that position, moving him slightly could be deemed a risk.

Bremer is an exciting target, though, and with Torino ‘expecting several offers’ for him, it will be interesting to see how things develop.
