# Liverpool eye up friendly before Champions League final

Liverpool are hoping to play a friendly in Spain before the Champions League final, according to the [https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/may/22/liverpool-champions-league-spain-friendly-jurgen-klopp?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/may/22/liverpool-champions-league-spain-friendly-jurgen-klopp?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app)*[Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/may/22/liverpool-champions-league-spain-friendly-jurgen-klopp?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app)*.

The Reds are currently at a training camp in Marbella, as they prepare to take on Tottenham in club football’s biggest game.

The match takes place in Madrid on June 1st, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s men will have gone almost three weeks without competitive football if they don’t play beforehand.

There is a fear that it could lead to rustiness in the final, due to a lack of match practice.

The idea of a friendly is, therefore, a positive one, and they will take on a team of some kind at their training base in the coming days.

It is reported that the Reds “will face an under-23s or academy side if a friendly with senior opposition cannot be arranged.”

Klopp is thought to be keen on giving Roberto Firmino some playing time more than anyone, with the Brazilian missing the games against Barcelona and Brighton.
