# Liverpool fans call for Reds to sign Eder Militao on loan

A number of Liverpool fans have been calling for the Reds to sign Eder Militao on loan this month.

Speaking on [The Transfer Window](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-transfer-window/id1254836234) podcast \[via [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/01/13/im-told-duncan-castles-shares-significant-transfer-update-on-tottenham-target-eder-militao/)\], journalist Duncan Castles claimed that Real Madrid are willing to let the centre-back leave temporarily until the end of the season, saying:

> One player who has been mentioned is Eder Militao, the centre-back at Real Madrid who is out of favour there.

> Madrid are trying to offload the player, they want ideally to sell. I’m told their asking price is €50 million (£44.5m), but there is the option there of getting Militao on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Liverpool have suffered a crisis at the back in 2020/21, with [Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-gomez-virgil-van-dijk-19270845) both suffering serious knee injuries which will likely keep them out for the rest of the season.

Not only that, but Joel Matip has continued to be an [injury-plagued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-matip/verletzungen/spieler/82105) figure, finding himself in and out of the Reds’ team. It has left auxiliary centre-back Fabinho as the only strong available option, leading to [calls for a new signing](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/03/liverpool-fans-react-to-disappointing-james-pearce-tweet/) to be made in January.

Militao’s reported availability could alert Jurgen Klopp – the Brazilian has been [linked](https://www.todofichajes.com/militao-esta-en-la-agenda-del-liverpool/) with a move to Anfield in the past – although the manager has [hinted](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12181493/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-not-likely-to-sign-centre-back-in-january-transfer-window) that no business will be done this month.

These Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to talk up the idea of signing the 22-year-old.
