# Liverpool fans criticise Alexander-Arnold after performance at Newcastle

A number of Liverpool supporters are unhappy with Trent Alexander-Arnold, following a poor performance away to Newcastle United.

The Reds were insipid at St James’ Park on Wednesday night, failing to break down their opponents.

Good chances came and went, with Mohamed Salah particularly culpable of being wasteful, and Jurgen Klopp’s champions are now only three points clear of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League, having played one game more.

Numerous Liverpool players were out of sorts against the Magpies, whether it be Jordan Henderson in midfield or the entire attack, but someone who was arguably as bad as anyone was Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back looked out of sorts throughout, barring [one sensational pass](https://twitter.com/primevideosport/status/1344379980504039433?s=20) in the first half.

He has struggled to hit top form at any point this season, with [just two assists and no goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/318871/Show/Trent-Alexander-Arnold)to his name in 14 league appearances.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to bemoan Alexander-Arnold’s display on Wednesday.

> Trent poor again jones one game too many milly was probs best mid but still only a 6 or 7. Mo and Mane bar one or 2 moments looked a bit leggy and clueless tbh

> Just two assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Trent so far this season.\
> \
> Been a long way short of his best too often and looked very jaded towards the end last night.\
> \
> Robertson outperforming him by a mile at the moment – desperately need him back to his best.

> While Trent haven't been at the unbelievable high standard he has set over the last 2-3 years. He continue to make key passes and create opportunities that have been spurned. Injuries have also meant he isn't in the same rhythm.

> It’s not even the assists, it’s all the weird passes he plays (barring that worldie for mane). It’s so frustrating, and it’s killing out attack. He is our nominal playmaker
