# Liverpool fans deplore Jordan Henderson injury update

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/22/liverpool-target-florian-neuhaus-plays-down-transfer-speculation/) captain [Jordan Henderson](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/22/jordan-henderson-set-for-significant-lay-off-through-injury/) begrudgingly left the Merseyside derby early on Saturday evening and it has since been [reported](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9284531/Liverpool-face-nervous-wait-fitness-Jordan-Henderson-Reds-prepare-significant-lay-off.html) that the inspirational leader will spend a ‘significant’ spell on the sidelines.

Henderson joins a [long list of Reds players currently unavailable](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156) and Kopites have been bemoaning their luck this season in their masses.

Already without [Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1400087/Liverpool-news-Virgil-van-Dijk-Joe-Gomez-injury-pictures) and [Joel Matip](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/424517-jurgen-klopp-confirms-joel-matip-injury-diagnosis), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had been forced to use Fabinho and Henderson in central defence despite being midfielders by trade.  Having recently [lost the Brazilian](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/426385-jurgen-klopp-everton-injury-update-fabinho-naby-keita) to injury, the captain’s absence is another huge blow to the defending champions.

These members of the Anfield faithful have taken to [This Is Anfield](https://twitter.com/thisisanfield/status/1363781996783296523)‘s tweet to react to the news, and many believe there are greater powers at play…
