# Many Liverpool fans lament Stan Collymore’s Harry Kane suggestion

Plenty of Liverpool fans have responded to the suggestion made by [former Reds striker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stan-collymore/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/106811) Stan Collymore that the club should look to sign [Harry Kane](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/09/liverpool-should-make-audacious-move-for-harry-kane-says-stan-collymore/) in the summer.

Collymore believes that, in order to maintain pace with current [league leaders](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) Manchester City next season, Liverpool should look to sign either Kane or Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, pleading with the club to “put in a bid” for the England captain in his column for [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-transfer-news-harry-kane-23463565?_ga=2.53497768.1405760891.1612776761-1206938847.1611229585).

At the start of the season, off  the back of a resounding Premier League title success and having [added Diogo Jota](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54214671) to their ranks, the Reds seemed blessed in the striking department.

However, with Roberto Firmino [suffering a crisis of confidence](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-mohamed-salah-roberto-firmino-19659460) in front of goal, Jota’s [lengthy injury layoff](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/verletzungen/spieler/340950) and the usually prolific Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah going through [dips in form](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/leistungsdaten/spieler/200512), there is a growing feeling that reinforcements could be necessary.

With Liverpool having been treated in the past to some of the most [prolific strikers the league has seen](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/449670-top-10-all-time-liverpool-strikers), Kane would match up based on [his stats alone](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3960/Harry-Kane/overview)  – although seemingly not enough to appease some of the Anfield faithful…
