# Contrasting views as Liverpool fans react to David Alaba rumours

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/07/carragher-makes-hilarious-dig-at-neville-after-man-united-lose-to-man-city/)have made an offer to Bayern Munich contract rebel [David Alaba](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/05/liverpool-one-of-five-clubs-in-the-mix-to-sign-david-alaba-next-summer/) to join the Reds in the summer, according to Goal journalist [Romeo Agresti](https://twitter.com/romeoagresti) \[via [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1346886279938658304)\].

The Austrian, who is adept at [playing in numerous positions](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/david-alaba-10-things-on-the-bayern-munich-and-austria-hero-458329.jsp), is [out of contract in July](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/profil/spieler/59016) and the defending Premier League champions are in contention to land the 28-year-old.

Alaba will bring the curtain down on a [glittering nine-year stint at Bayern](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/erfolge/spieler/59016) after [rejecting the chance](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8904677/Bayern-Munich-withdraw-contract-offer-David-Alaba-Austrian-rejected-latest-proposal.html) to stay with the Bavarian giants, but the Reds face [competition from Real Madrid](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/05/real-madrid-lead-race-to-sign-david-alaba-but-liverpool-interested-too) for his signature. Agresti has [claimed](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1346886279938658304) that Liverpool have offered the Austrian a contract worth €10m (£9m) a year to sign for the Anfield club.

Signing [Alaba on a free](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-alaba/marktwertverlauf/spieler/59016) in the summer in normal circumstances would be seen as a great piece of business by the Reds, but with the [current centre-back crisis](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9048977/Injury-ravaged-Liverpool-left-NO-fit-centre-backs-Joel-Matip-brought-problem.html) at the club, many Kopites would like to see him being signed posthaste. One believes that the Austrian, who can also play in midfield, would be a ‘perfect replacement’ for Gini Wijnaldum, whose own contract situation [remains in deadlock](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12180520/georginio-wijnaldum-and-liverpool-reach-stalemate-over-new-contract).
