# Liverpool fans have mixed views on Nicolo Barella transfer rumours

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/19/liverpool-have-no-plans-to-offer-salah-new-reds-deal-claims-journalist/) have been linked with a move for Inter Milan midfielder [Nicolo Barella](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/01/09/liverpool-enter-race-for-chelsea-target-nicolo-barella/) as the Reds begin to prepare for the possibility of life after [Georginio Wijnaldum](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/17/gini-wijnaldum-set-to-leave-liverpool-for-barcelona-report-claims/).

The report came from Italian publication [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/inter-sirene-inglesi-per-barella-28233) and was soon in the ether of many Kopites, with a general consensus of the right player for the wrong positon.

A creative midfielder who [looks to make things happen](https://theathletic.co.uk/2329524/2021/01/19/nicolo-barella-inter-juventus-italy-midfield/) in an attacking sense, Barella would replicate several players already within [the Anfield setup](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team), whilst the need for defensive reinforcement remains apparent.

The Italian would undoubtedly be a major coup for Jurgen Klopp’s side as the 23-year-old has [established himself](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/leistungsdaten/spieler/255942) as part of a [glittering midfield](https://www.inter.it/en/coversquadra) at the San Siro this season, as well as becoming a [regular for his national side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/nationalmannschaft/spieler/255942/verein_id/3376).

With a decision over Wijnaldum’s future looming and in truth looking [increasingly doubtful that he will remain](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-georginio-wijnaldum-to-reject-contract-offer-and-join-barcelona) on Merseyside, possible replacements are on the agenda.

However, some Liverpool fans have more pressing matters on their mind…

Elsewhere, there was a selection of more positive reactions, with one Kopite believing he would be the perfect replacement for the seemingly exit-bound Wijnaldum…

> Twitter: @AnfieldEdition He is so good. He was running the game against Juventus always pushing forward. He scored and assisted btw. (@ardabazzzi)
