# Liverpool fans react as Virgil van Dijk’s injury recovery continues

A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a photo of Virgil van Dijk continuing his injury recovery in Kirkby.

The Dutchman has been a colossal loss for the Reds this season, having suffered [cruciate ligament damage](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/412585-virgil-van-dijk-knee-injury-surgery) away to Everton, following an awful tackle by Jordan Pickford.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have battled on bravely without him, but additional [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/31) to the likes of Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho have made it impossible for Liverpool to mount a serious defence of their title.

Van Dijk has been working on his recovery in Dubai, but is now back at the Reds’ new AXA Training Centre.

On Monday, the 29-year-old posted a photo on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/virgilvandijk/?hl=en) showing him in the pool in Kirkby, as his recovery slowly edges closer.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to the footage, showing their love for the centre-back and hoping to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
