# Liverpool fans react to Ben Davies and Nat Phillips being made available

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/05/ozan-kabak-an-injury-doubt-for-liverpools-clash-with-fulham/)‘s season of adversity continued on Thursday evening when the Reds were beaten for the[fifth consecutive match](https://www.skysports.com/liverpool-results) at the previously impenetrable Anfield.

Ahead of the clash with Chelsea, manager [Jurgen Klopp confirmed](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/klopp-involved-phillips-liverpool-chelsea-19969518) Nathaniel Phillips had suffered a knock that ruled him out of the match – joining a [long-list of defensive absentees](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12206038/joel-matip-liverpool-defender-to-miss-remainder-of-2020-21-premier-league-season-with-ankle-ligament-injury#:~:text=Joel%20Matip%3A%20Liverpool%20defender%20to,injury%20%7C%20Football%20News%20%7C%20Sky%20Sports)in the process.

Deadline day arrival [Ben Davies](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/26/ben-davies-tipped-for-liverpool-start-sheffield-united-agbonlahor/), who still awaits a debut, was also [nowhere to be seen](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/425767-ben-davies-fitness-update)when the [matchday squad](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-chelsea/teams/429121) was announced.

However, in today’s [pre-match press conference](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/427794-watch-jurgen-klopp-fulham-press-conference)ahead of another chance to put things right against, at home, this time [against Fulham](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2020-21/first-team/fixtures-and-results), Klopp confirmed both Phillips and Davies will be available on Sunday.

Typically, there was more bad news as [Ozan Kabak was more or less ruled out](https://twitter.com/AHunterGuardian/status/1367808193590681601?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1367808193590681601%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Freadliverpoolfc.com%2F2021%2F03%2F05%2Fozan-kabak-an-injury-doubt-for-liverpools-clash-with-fulham%2F), meaning another [new central defensive partnership](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9201239/Jurgen-Klopp-used-16-different-centre-pairing-one-successful.html) is likely.
