# Some Liverpool fans breathe a sigh of relief after Dayot Upamecano performance

Many [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/17/simon-hughes-claims-liverpool-have-big-issues-to-solve-over-contracts/) fans may have been left breathing a sigh of relief last night after recently-confirmed Bayern Munich signing [Dayot Upamecano](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/14/liverpool-fans-react-as-dayot-upamecano-seals-summer-move-to-bayern-munich/) had a [night to forget](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/match/2029475--leipzig-vs-liverpool/postmatch/report/).

The RB Leipzig centre-back was a [reported target for the Reds](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-dayot-upamecano-transfer-bayern-19745461) as well as a [host of other](https://talksport.com/football/827076/dayot-upamecano-transfer-man-utd-liverpool-chelsea/) Premier League clubs. However, it was [confirmed](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/14/bayern-munich-beat-manchester-united-and-liverpool-to-dayot-upamecano) this week that the 22-year-old would move to Bayern at the end of the current campaign.

Given the [hyperbole](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/superb-with-and-without-the-ball-figo-and-lineker-see-bright/usjipezna7m21h09viythywyv) around the Frenchman, plenty of Kopites may have been initially disappointed to miss out. That was until last night as the defender [lost possession on 23 occasions](https://www.sofascore.com/player/dayot-upamecano/798583) and put in an all-round [error-strewn](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/dayot-upamecano-rb-leipzig-liverpool-23513546) display as [Sadio Mane left him chasing shadows](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/426052-watch-highlights-leipzig-liverpool-champions-league).

A host of Liverpool fans reacted on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/MaddockMirror/status/1361824225250656259) to a possible dodging of a bullet as regards Upamecano, who gave what one Kopite called an “awful” performance…

> He was awful the last time I watched him play at man u away In the group stages..its not a one off and that should worry Bayern Munich!
