# Liverpool fans show love for Shkodran Mustafi after his role in potential Ozan Kabak deal

A number of Liverpool fans have been jokingly showing their love for Shkodran Mustafi, following his role in a possible move for Ozan Kabak.

For the first time in a while, the Reds are having an extremely busy transfer deadline day, as they look to secure deals for two new centre-backs.

The addition of [Ben Davies](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/12204919/ben-davies-liverpool-agree-2m-fee-with-preston-for-defender) from Preston almost looks done, but there is more work to do elsewhere.

Kabak continues to look the most likely second defender to head to Anfield, with various reports claiming he is closing on a move, including the reliable Paul Joyce on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1356237132482932737?s=20).

> Ozan Kabak of Schalke to Liverpool would be a loan with an option – not obligation – to buy permanently. Mustafi to Schalke still needs to happen first before the deal is finalised.

Mustafi is now close to joining Kabak’s current club Schalke, suggesting he is the 20-year-old’s replacement.

The Arsenal man was himself [linked](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/01/29/jurgen-klopp-admits-liverpool-hunting-fornew-centre-back-quality/) with Liverpool, but that is a move that won’t happen now.

Mustafi wasn’t a popular target with many, but it looks as though he has ended up playing a heroic role in an important piece of business.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to send messages of thanks to the German.
