# Fans react to transfer links with Upamecano and Konate

The onslaught of defenders linked with a move to [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/15/james-pearce-reveals-why-jurgen-klopp-is-hugely-frustrated-with-naby-keita/) shows no signs of stopping and today was no exception as RB Leipzig duo [Dayot Upamecano](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/14/liverpool-set-to-battle-man-united-and-chelsea-for-dayot-upamecano-signing/)and [Ibrahima Konate](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/12/05/liverpool-interested-in-signing-rb-leipzig-defender-ibrahima-konate/) were linked with moves to Anfield.

[Christian Falk](https://twitter.com/cfbayern), head of football at German publication Sport Bild, made the connection on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/cfbayern/status/1350022713285496832) as he revealed that interest in Upamecano especially was high, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also keen on the 22-year-old Frenchman.

> TRUE ✅ [@ChelseaFC](https://twitter.com/ChelseaFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) have contact to the Management of Dayot Upamecano. Like [@FCBayern](https://twitter.com/FCBayern?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) and [@LFC](https://twitter.com/LFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw). Liverpool is also interested in Ibrahima Konaté [@BILD\_Sport](https://twitter.com/BILD_Sport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/uVh2B7falh](https://t.co/uVh2B7falh)

The pair have enjoyed a [meteoric rise to prominence](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/dayot-upamecano-ibrahima-konate-rb-leipzig-france-future-in-defence-rangnick-5202) in the last 18 months and have formed a strong partnership at the heart of the Leipzig defence, illustrated by their healthy position in the [Bundesliga table](https://www.skysports.com/bundesliga-table) and [impressive goals against](https://www.skysports.com/bundesliga-table) column.

With many [Kopites clinging to the hope](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/centre-backs-liverpool-carragher-transfer-23236019) that there will be a defensive arrival this month to ease Liverpool’s [defensive injury woes](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php), Twitter was awash with Reds fans giving their thoughts on Falk’s update on Upamecano and Konate.

We’ve collated a pick of the reactions, from the desperate to the optimistic…
