# Liverpool fans wary over transfer links with Ibrahima Konate

Historically speaking, [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/27/mohamed-salah-used-to-be-shy-and-quiet-at-chelsea-claims-oscar/) fans are generally an optimistic bunch, perhaps owing to the club’s glorious history or simply the [general demeanour or the city](https://www.theguardian.com/careers/gallery/2016/feb/02/the-10-happiest-cities-to-work-in-the-uk-in-pictures) for which they have an affinity.

Perhaps its the [ongoing injury plight](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156), or [the times we live in](https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-deaths-above-average-in-almost-every-area-of-the-uk-12198585), but some Kopites have given a very pessimistic reaction to speculation linking the Reds with a summer move for RB Leipzig centre-back [Ibrahima Konate](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/27/journalist-hints-that-liverpool-will-sign-ibrahima-konate-this-summer/).

Journalist Rory Smith told [The Guardian’s *Football Weekly* podcast](https://www.theguardian.com/football/audio/2021/jan/25/frank-lampard-sacked-fa-cup-national-league-football-weekly) how he expects Liverpool to pursue Konate, albeit without naming the 21-year-old and simply strongly alluding towards the [powerful defender](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/345957/Show/Ibrahima-Konat%C3%A9).

As Jurgen Klopp deals with the [ongoing defensive injury crisis](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156) in his squad, some Kopites have pinpointed the French youngster’s own [less than convincing availability record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ibrahima-konate/verletzungen/spieler/357119) and questioned the sense in signing a player who could potentially get to know the physio better than his teammates.
