# Liverpool have “major concerns” over Mohamed Salah’s ankle

Liverpool have “major concerns” about Mohamed Salah’s ankle injury, according to a report from [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/liverpool-engliverpool/story/3987872/sources-liverpool-concerned-by-latest-mohamed-salah-knock).

Salah has been troubled by his ankle ever since Hamza Choudhury first caught the Egyptian during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Leicester in October and the Reds’ forward has had to have fluid removed from the joint on a few occasions.

An innocuous knock from Fernandinho seemed to cause Salah more pain during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City and the Reds are now worried about his ankle.

According to ESPN, Liverpool wanted Salah to stay on Merseyside and have a scan on the injury but the player has insisted that he wants to go away on international duty with Egypt and as such, he’ll have the injury assessed by the national team’s medical staff.

Liverpool are hopeful that the scans will come back clear but if there are any issues, Salah might be forced to sit out Egypt’s upcoming games against Kenya and Comoros.

Salah didn’t look entirely comfortable on Sunday after the knock to his ankle and Liverpool are right to have concerns.

Hopefully, the scans will be clear and Salah will be able to represent Egypt but if there are any issues with the ankle, Salah should sit out of international duty in order to rest and recover.
