# Liverpool in talks with Flamengo’s Reinier Jesus

Liverpool are in talks with 16-year-old midfielder Reinier Jesus about a possible summer move, according to [reports](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-in-talks-sign-brazilian-12447147).

The Reds are continuing to scour the globe, looking for the best young talent and they’ve identified Reinier as a possible target.

Reinier is on the books of Flamengo, and is contracted to them until 2021 but that apparently hasn’t stopped Liverpool making a move.

Flamengo’s former President, Kleber Leite, said he had been made aware that the Reds were in talks with the teenager about a move in the summer

> I received certain information that the English club, who were monitoring the young Flamengo and Brazilian midfielder Reinier, 16, have already started negotiations with the boy’s family. Our young values are being erased prematurely, without even being able to write a page that is in the history of the Brazilian club that put them in the football world.

Real Madrid have already agreed a huge move to sign Flamengo’s Vinicius Junior in the summer, so the Brazilians will be keen not to let another of their bright, young talents leave the club.
