# Liverpool interested in Dutch defender Xavier Mbuyamba

Liverpool are reportedly one of a plethora of European clubs interested in MVV Maastricht defender Xavier Mbuyamba, according to [Voetbal International](https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/europese-topclubs-zitten-achter-mvv-talent-mbuyamba-aan), relayed in an article by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/agent-says-chelsea-best-option-for-youngster-interest-also-from-celtic-and-liverpool/).

The 17-year-old has attracted plenty of interest from the likes of Chelsea, Celtic, FC Porto and Bayern Munich in recent months after an impressive campaign in the Dutch second division.

The towering defender was offered a first professional contract by his current club in recent months, however, the teenager decided to turn it down after hearing about the interest abroad.

Mbuyamba was forced to sit on the bench as a result of turning down the deal and it looks likely that the defender could leave the club in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to be keen on adding to his squad over the summer, however, Mbuyamba may well be added into the academy sides if the Reds secure his services over the summer.

And with Mbuyamba yet to sign a professional deal, Liverpool may well aim to step up their interest in the teenager in the coming weeks.
